The biological roles of fat tissue go well beyond insulating the body and serving as a long-term energy reservoir. You see, body fat (adipose tissue) is a complicated organ system. (Sorry folks, spot-reduction is a mainstream myth that just won't go away.) Where your body holds onto excess body fat is unfortunately out of your control, and you can't gain muscle if you're in a chronic calorie deficit ( 2 ). Alas, body recomposition is not as straightforward as one would hope. If we could target stubborn fat deposits like we could isolate specific muscle groups, it wouldn't be that complicated to lose fat and gain muscle. Let's face it: belly fat is the bane of any fitness enthusiast. Don't worry - this guide provides a calorie-cycling template to help with your body recomposition journey. Intuitively, the "workaround" is to have intermittent higher-calorie days to support muscle growth and consume fewer calories on other days to facilitate fat loss. You can't have excess calories and a deficiency of calories at any given moment. Well, doing so is incompatible with the laws of thermodynamics and what we know about human biochemistry: anabolic processes like muscle hypertrophy require a surplus of energy (calories), whereas catabolic processes like burning body fat necessitate an energy deficit. Many fitness enthusiasts take umbrage with the claim that it's not possible to lose fat and build muscle at the same time. ![]() While you theoretically can't build muscle and lose body fat simultaneously, body recomposition is possible with strategic calorie-cycling and diligent training. (Hence, fat-free mass (FFM) is synonymous with LBM.) For body recomposition, the goal is to increase FFM as this is a corollary of being leaner and more muscular ( 1 ). LBM is your total body weight minus fat mass. Another way to look at it is that body recomposition aims to increase the proportion of lean body mass (LBM) to fat mass. In other words, it's when someone wants to lose fat and gain muscle (thereby reducing body fat percentage). ![]() What is Body Recomposition?īody recomposition is the process of improving body composition. This guide will outline all the finer points of body recomposition and help you get started on the right foot with an 8-week diet and workout protocol to lose fat and gain muscle. However, this shouldn't discourage you! Body recomposition is achievable with the right diet, training, and supplement regimen. Countless hours of cardio and crunches aren't the answer, either (unless your goal is to be skinny/thin, which is not synonymous with being lean and muscular). If you want rock-hard abs, you need to be lean all over - generally under 10% body fat if you're a man and sub-12% body fat if you're a woman. Can You Lose Fat and Gain Muscle at the Same Time? ![]() ![]() ![]() “But Superintendent Kingsland said if isolation switches were removed, alternative safeguards were required to protect firefighters and other first responders from the risk of electric shock. “Industry experts have been lobbying to make the isolator switch voluntary, with the Clean Energy Regulator saying it’s mandatory only in Australia… Unfortunately, though, the article only made one small suggestion, which was to make DC isolators optional: It’s great that the spotlight is finally shining on DC solar systems, especially at the cheaper end of the solar market. DC Solar Is In The SpotlightĪn article in the Sydney Morning Herald yesterday highlighted the increasing concern around solar panels fires. Standard solar systems that use a central inverter don’t have Rapid Shutdown functionality like an AC system, and ironically it is often the safety switch itself that is causing the fire. ![]() This switch isolates the electricity being generated by the solar panels. Once an arc fault is triggered, it can be difficult to stop because the voltage in DC systems is constant, and you have to be able to interrupt the circuit or the arcing will continue.Ī DC Arc fault typically occurs in a faulty DC isolator, a switch that is used in solar systems so that firefighters can turn off a system in the event of a fire. Even the smallest equipment failure, such as a damaged cable or a loose electrical connection can cause an arc fault. Solar systems that have high-voltage DC power running from the panels down to the inverter have to be closely monitored for arc faults, which pose a significant risk of fire. ![]() ![]() ![]() The following screenshot shows connecting to the default (unnamed) instance of SQL Server on a computer named PracticeComputer. I hope you now have a nice background in the primary and secondary colors in the RYB model, plus their meanings, with regards to the chakra and aura colors system. Both are very powerful! In energy work, purple is also connected with positive healing and energy flow.Ĭontinue Reading Primary and Secondary Colors The former, located between the eyes, is about intuition, while the latter, situated at the top of the head, is connected with universal life force energy. It is associated with the 6th (Third Eye) or 7th (Crown) Chakra, depending which system you're using. The secondary color, purple, has a special meaning in terms of chakras. I’ll also dive a bit into the color meanings of each, based on my work in aura and chakra colors as a Reiki practitioner. Phew! That’s a lot of wild new information for most of us, eh? Never fear - in the rest of this article, we will be sticking with the tried and true RYB system, as we unpack how to make each of the three secondary colors. Because printers need real black, they added blacK into the mix as the “K” in CMYK. This is a subtractive model, meaning that the CMY primary colors come together to form a dark color close to black, but not quite black. With CMYK, the secondary colors are: red, green, and blue (the opposite of the RGB model). In CMYK, the primary colors are cyan, magenta, and yellow. Then we come to the CMYK model, used in printing. With RGB, the primary colors are red, green, and blue, and all three combine to form white! In this system, the secondary colors are: yellow (red + green), cyan (a light blue formed by green + blue), and magenta (a pink-purple made by red + blue). Next comes the RGB model, which is an additive model used in light and with digital screens. This model still works fine if you’re mixing inks as I am in these illustrations or cute drawings. The traditional paint and pigment model of color theory has that the primary colors are red, yellow, and blue, so the system is abbreviated as the RYB model. Primary and secondary colors, illustrated. By extension, orange, green, and purple (or violet) are not the only secondary colors! Huh? Let’s elaborate. In particular, it turns out that the primary colors we all learned about in elementary school for drawing - red, yellow, and blue - are NOT the only system of primary colors. In the process of hand-drawing these illustrations and researching each article, I realized: Despite my years of experience, there’s a TON about color theory that is shockingly unexpected! 309–311.Share on Twitter Share on WhatsApp Share on Facebook Share on Email Share on LinkedIn Share on Pinterestįor anyone interested in color mixing exploits like me, there’s an essential question to answer: What are secondary colors, and which primary colors make each?
